Writing Has Changed Me And I Like It

It has been intimidating, challenging, and growth-inducing.

ust a few short months ago, I decided to change things up. I needed to do something different. I was afraid of becoming stagnant and wanted to re-energize myself.

Sure, there are lots of other things I need to do, but most of them would do nothing to motivate me or enrich my life. There would be the satisfaction of cleaning and reorganizing. I am transiting from operating a small antique business and need to let go of leftovers, such as small uncompleted projects, and decide what to keep and what to eliminate. Nothing is stimulating there. Projects like that will not enhance my life.

What would I do? I decided, like so many others, to start a blog. It has been stimulating to be sure. I have gone from someone who was not on social media in any form to someone who is now on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WordPress, and now Medium. I still do not own a cellphone. Yes, I was a relic of the past, and I was happy there. If I had decided not to blog, I would still not be on any of those platforms.

There are so many reasons why I like writing. The number one reason would be that it is not stagnant, and now neither am I. It stimulates my mind every day. I love to read, and now I read several articles and stories each day. It is so enjoyable to read other writers and view their opinions, their emotions, and experiences.

Each day I learn something new from doing research. I learn about other cultures, different ways to do something, and how something works. Every day when absorbing this new knowledge, I am also revisiting my own past experiences and contemplating new possibilities. I am learning about myself, and I am becoming a better person. I think more openly about past experiences, and I am hopefully cleaning out some of the baggage I carry within me.

I believe I am becoming a better person, a more interesting person, and I hope in some small way, I am setting an example. First for my sons, showing them you are never too old to make changes, and do something new and different. Hopefully for others as well; the slightly older portion of the population who may stumble upon my writing and my blog. Also, younger people as well, who read my WordPress blog where I have shared my work experience and offer tips for self-improvement.

Writing has been so exciting and so humbling all at the same time. There is a definite learning curve involved, and I learn something new all the time. When I read other Medium writers, I am humbled; there are so many who are so very good at their craft. I get lost sometimes in their stories and feel their emotions and sometimes their humor. So inspiring!

I know I have so much to learn. I want to be a good writer, someone who can inspire and make you feel my emotions, and maybe even laugh as well. Writing is an adventure and one I will eagerly continue.

Previously published on Medium.com I hope you like it.

As always, thanks for visiting my blog. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Moving Forward.....that is what this blog is about and adjusting my Time Frame. We all have a time frame although we may acknowledge, or look at our life that way, but life is our own personal time frame. I am in my early 70's and I plan on living for many more years and accomplish many things. This blog is the beginning of that process. It is my way of pushing myself along that path. So where do I go from here? Follow along and maybe what I do will help you to Move Forward as well. Also, join me on my journey at https://medium.com/@lindalatt
