A special day for anyone who has a pet, a dog, a cat, guinea pig or lizard; whatever it may be. There is a special day just for them. A day to give them a special treat, a time to spoil them by giving them some extra love and attention.
Pets have always been a special part of my life growing up as a child and then with my own children and also today when my kids now have their own families and it is just myself and my husband.
As a child there was the time when my Dad has seen some puppies and he really wanted to get one. It was a Sunday and we were just home from Church and my Dad turned to me and asked if I wanted to go for a ride and see some puppies. The last thing my Mom said when we walked out the door was, ‘Do not bring home a puppy’ but of course we did. There were many dogs and cats throughout my childhood.
When my kids were growing up we had dogs and cats and hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks and geese. Along with fish, a rat and a cockatiel.
Now with my husband we have had cats, dogs, rabbits, horses and Longhorn cattle.
So on Wednesday, Feb. 20th, we will be taking our sweet dog, Benson, to his Spa Day as I call it where he will get a complete wash, styling and nails trimmed. Of course, he will come home with a new special treat. He loves stuffed animals so he will receive a new one on his special day.
So what are you going to do for your special pet now that you know it is National Love Your Pet Day ?
There are lots of places you can go and or things you can make or buy. My daughter-in-law made a great collar with tags for our dog and he loves to go for a walk at the park. How about some homemade biscuits ?
